Come In! Come In!

Instrumentation/Voicing:
flexible (canon)

With this fun canon (and musical game in disguise), Abbie carries on a family tradition begun in 1922 by her great-grandfather Bates Burt, and continued by her great-uncle, Alfred Burt, of writing a new Christmas carol annually. With this cheery "Come in! Come in!" Abbie honors the memory of her grandfather, who so joyfully greeted his family at the door for the holidays. A canon with options, Abbie calls it a "looping canon" since it includes an optional extension line ("drink up some cider") that a singer can tack on to create a longer 'loop' and thus join a different group of round-singers.

Come In! Come in! Come in!
Ye carolers trudging around in the snow,
Come In! Come in!
Sit by the fire and (optional: drink up some cider and...)
Warm up your fingers and toes.
